Shweta Desale, a Cloud and DevOps Engineer, says Barclays is a great place for engineers to develop.
Before I even joined Barclays, it had stood out for its engineering culture. A bank, yes, but also a force in tech. Since I’ve started here, my suspicion has been confirmed. The continuous learning and technical collaboration make it an ideal place for a technologist to grow.
Startups have their appeal – but Barclays offers the stability and long-term vision that newer businesses can lack. Our size means that collectively we can make a difference. Our flat structure means individual contributions are valued.
In my role, I help modernise our DevOps around CI/CD pipelines, containerisation and cloud deployments. In basic terms, it’s my job to reduce friction for the Devs through simplification and integration with AI tools, so they can focus on what really counts: improving services for our customers.
It’s all part of our move to AI-driven, cloud-native platforms that are the future of banking. A future that Barclays is helping to lead. But a company’s investment in AI is only as strong as its investment in talent. That’s what makes Barclays a great place to grow.
