Spectrum
Our purpose is to bring LGBT+ people and allies together; creating an environment where everyone is included.
We focus on creating engaging and educational events, offering unique and dynamic training, and challenging the norm to continue to support the most marginalised groups of the LGBT+ community.
Spectrum is open to all colleagues whether a member of the LGBT+ community or an ally.
Our Strategy
As part of the new global Employee Resource Group strategy, the key focus for our ERG is to champion the benefits of diversity at Barclays, whilst sharing the lived experiences and nuances of our diverse colleagues at Barclays. As we sharpen the focus on Diversity at Barclays, the ERG strategy will focus on four main pillars (Attract, Retain, Develop and Engage).
Attract
Internal and external engagement – Providing greater support to the Barclays D&I recruitment to identify and engage a diverse pool of candidates:
- Spectrum’s strategy continues to be centred around three key pillars Colleagues, Customer/Clients and Communities
- Our aim is to still focus on these core three groups, but with a more focused and detailed strategy
- We continue to work with 3 key charities: Terence Higgins Trust, LGBT Foundation & Mermaids – raising awareness and fundraising via events throughout the year.
- Engage with clients via sharing best practise with network contacts cross industry and via Gala dinner events
Retain
Building a great & diverse place to work:
- Utilise external event opportunities to showcase i.e Pride & Gala dinners
Develop
Developing colleagues with multiple dimensions of difference – Foster a diverse and inclusive environment to ensure members reach their career goals while contributing to Barclays’ D&I objectives:
- Plans to continue intersectional work by collaborating with different ERG’s across the year.
- Joining up on key events and committing to always producing communications & events which celebrate the diverse nature of our community
Engage
- Connect with business leads to explore collaboration opportunities:
Continue to build a network of support groups under our pillar leads along with working groups such as ‘parent with pride’ which recognise the differing needs of colleagues within the LGBT+ community.
