Internship and Graduate Application Process

Applying for a new role is an important step in your career. This is your chance to really show us what you’re like and how your talents can make a difference at Barclays. So, we’re supporting you by making our application and assessment processes simple to follow. Here, you can read all about what to expect, we’re looking forward to meeting you.

We aim for an inclusive work environment where everyone can reach their full potential. If you require any adjustments to our recruitment process, please let us know as part of your application. Anything you disclose with us will be kept confidential and any information you share will be used to ensure you can be at your best in the application process, but you only need to share what you are comfortable with. Some of the adjustments we have made to the process include but are not limited to: extra time for assessments, offline assessments. As part of this process, we encourage and welcome feedback to our recruitment team on how we can better support our candidates requiring adjustments.

We’ve created this process to make it simple to apply for your internship or graduate programme at Barclays. We know your time is important and we’ve designed the application so you can tell us everything we need to know about you and how you align with our Values and ways of working.

Our assessment process is designed to spot the key qualities that will help us find the best role for you. We’ll be looking to see if you share the same key attributes and Values as Barclays colleagues throughout our business. These qualities will help you perform well here, with our training and support to help you build on them and develop the technical skills you’ll need in your role.

Where possible, we host most of our assessments on a digital experience platform. You’ll find information on here about our Purpose, Values and ways of working – the things that make us tick at Barclays. You’ll also find useful hints and tips, as well as some practice tests that will help you perform well through your assessment.

Step 1 – Your application

Complete the application form on our careers site. For hints and tips on how to complete your Application, please click here.

Step 2 – Initial assessments

It all starts with two short interactive assessments, which will tell us how you might perform in the workplace, and your typical or preferred ways of working. You can do this on any type of device, such as your mobile phones or tablet.

For more technical programmes such as the Explorer Developer programme, we’ll invite you to complete an assessment to show us your technical skills.

Step 3 – Your assessment centre

If you’ve been successful so far, we’ll invite you to attend an assessment centre either in person or virtually. This is where you’ll have a further opportunity to show us the relevant strengths, behaviours or technical skills required for the role. The Assessment Centre will involve two or three stages, including a motivational interview with a member of the leadership team. Our assessors will do their best to put you at ease and answer any questions you may have.
