About the role
Our two-year Explorer Programme is a deep dive into Enabling Functions at Barclays. As an analyst, you’ll enjoy three rotations around a chosen area, with one rotation potentially taking you into a related Enabling Function. You’ll get insight into what we do, how we do it, how our Barclays businesses fit together – and how your role fits in. And you’ll get exposure to the whole bank – giving you the opportunity to build a strong network and great prospects for development.
Compliance is a critical function in the financial services industry. Our compliance professionals guide our business through the evolving world of regulations and establish risk-mitigating controls to protect our reputation. They focus on continuing investment in our risk management capabilities, along with simplifying, automating and digitising our processes wherever possible, and delivering industry-leading compliance analytics. Join this team, and you’ll share our objective to become the most respected compliance function in the world.
The better we understand the numbers, the better our decisions — and our performance — will be. Finance (including Treasury) oversees financial control, reporting and forecasting, as well as product control. It also monitors budgets and gives us accurate, high quality management and financial information. But our Finance teams aren’t just experts at interpreting figures — they’re also business managers who help drive strategy and keep us on track. Join us, and you’ll be part of truly bank-wide team that makes us competitive on a global scale.
This is the team that makes sure all our 83,500 employees grow, develop and get the most from their careers. Work here, and you'll be pivotal to our performance, whether you're recruiting top talent, promoting an inclusive culture or making sure our rewards are fair, imaginative and motivational. You'll also have opportunities to learn from experts, work across geographic and divisional boundaries, and potentially contribute to policies that could affect not just our business but the industry as a whole.
Internal Audit is an independent control function that’s critical to our business right around the world. You'll join a team that provides independent, reliable, insightful, and timely assurance to the whole business about effective governance, risk management and how we can control current and evolving risks.
We’ve built a reputation across financial services for our innovative thinking and approach — Barclays Internal Audit are market leaders in Data Analytics and other specialisms, frequently providing speakers at conferences and events. This is your chance to work with industry experts who will help you build your knowledge and support with your career.
In marketing, you’ll help attract and retain customers and clients, communicating the benefits of banking with Barclays. Working on diverse projects with this exciting and highly commercial team, you’ll learn how to communicate effectively and creatively across a range of marketing channels. Roles include everything from branding to advertising, social media to digital marketing, plus events, sponsorships and sales collateral — all focused on helping us promote our services and win new business.
Risk is part of every single transaction, every product, every service and every decision that Barclays makes or delivers. We work hard to adapt to the changing financial landscape, technology and the needs of our customers and business, and that makes risk an exciting, complex and varied place to build a career. You’ll have the opportunity to rotate across multiple areas within Risk, including credit, market, operational, climate and treasury, gaining deep knowledge of your area and its importance to the bank.
Barclays’ financial health is of the utmost importance — not only to our clients, shareholders and employees — but to a wide array of stakeholders, too. Our finance function, which treasury sits within, is essential to our success and includes our business performance & analytics, product control, financial control, cost management and tax teams. This is your opportunity to learn how financial concepts are applied in a global financial institution like Barclays.
Public Policy and Corporate Responsibility (PPCR) sits at the heart of this British universal bank. It is responsible for the bank’s societal purpose including the Group’s sustainability and citizenship agendas, our internal and external Communications strategy, and our Government and Regulatory Policy engagement activity.
Whilst the day-to-day activities within each team may differ, we are focused on building high-quality relationships with stakeholders including the media, government, regulators, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), communities and colleagues in an effective and collaborative way for the benefit of our customers and clients, our people, our shareholders, and the communities in which we operate, as well as for society more broadly.
