About these roles

We’ll give you the skills and knowledge to get involved in the incisive, responsive analysis behind ambitious business strategies. From there, you’ll begin applying an analytical approach within your team, building your capabilities across a wide range of challenges including valuation, accounting and financial modelling. Credit Research Associate

What to expect

Our two-year Research Expert Programme focuses on helping you develop specialist expertise in investment research. After this, you’ll go straight into the credit research team, working with senior analysts and contributing insights and ideas to investment theses and reports. Working on live projects, you’ll find yourself analysing macro industry trends, gathering data, building models and databases and developing and delivering marketing materials for clients. In time, you’ll find yourself presenting your ideas to colleagues as well as clients.

This is job-based, hands-on training, as you build your skills on live projects that really matter. You’ll receive personalised support from a line manager who is committed to your success, fostering your development, so you can explore, grow, and achieve mastery. And we’ll encourage you to learn, at your own pace, all the skills and techniques you need to thrive in the world of Research at Barclays. Our vast suite of learning materials will always be at your fingertips. You’ll be surrounded by colleagues you can share with and learn from. You’ll gain membership of our global graduate network, with exclusive access to content, events and forums to support you and help you develop. Who thrives here

With a Masters or PhD in a technical discipline such as Finance, Econometrics or Operations Research, you must have strong quantitative skills, including statistics and time series analysis. You should also be comfortable programming with Python, Matlab, SAS, Eviews and Excel VBA. You’ll be curious and creative, agile and adaptable. You’ll be great at communicating and collaborating, competitive but caring. Motivated by pace and pressure, you’ll be driven to achieve and always search for the best solution.
