The Chief Security Office is all about keeping the bank, its clients, customers and colleagues safe. We’re here to protect the organisation from both external and internal threats, and every day presents new challenges. This is an exciting place to be: hackers constantly attempt to find new ways to threaten our security, and we never rest in learning new ways to prevent them. And those threats don’t just come from viruses and fraudsters. Our work also touches on issues such as terrorism, world events, and the impact of economic turbulence. As the world around us changes, we have to be prepared and ready to respond. All of which will make your work with us endlessly interesting and deeply significant.
What to expect
After your initial training, you will gain a unique insight into how we protect our millions of customers against 21st century threats. As well as learning from our team’s expertise, you’ll start to build your own knowledge, taking on real challenges and responsibilities early on, including working with business areas to gather requirements, and managing large change projects. This is your opportunity to play your part in developing future innovations that really matter.

We’ll help you connect with mentors, and network with colleagues and senior leaders alike. You’ll get the chance to give back to the community through volunteer events. And if you really impress us, this could be the beginning of an incredible career. We invite top-performing interns to join us as full-time analysts after graduation.

What to expect
As well as learning from our team’s expertise, you’ll start to build your own, taking on real projects and responsibilities early on. You’ll work with teams behind services such as Pingit, Talking ATMs, and bPay to leading platforms including BARX - Barclays’ electronic trading platform. We’ll give you real-world, complex problems to solve, whether that means writing code to optimize our systems or developing intuitive user interfaces for new applications.
