About Investment Portfolio Analyst
The Investment Portfolio Analyst team supports Investment Advisors, Investment Managers, and Investment Specialists in the Investments team in preparing client portfolio analytics, review collaterals and presentations for clients/prospects, including standard and bespoke requirements.

­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Overall purpose of role

The role holder, as part of the Investments team, will collaborate with Investment Advisors, Investment Managers, Investment Specialists, and internal front-to-back office teams to understand, templatize and regularly deliver investment portfolio analysis and reporting requirements. Responsibilities often include gathering investments data, running analytics (in a semi-automated environment), and preparing appropriate reports/presentations for internal and external use with clients. Additionally, the role holder will actively support the teams in process change management and platform automation in the areas covered.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support Investment Advisors, Investment Managers, and Investment Specialists in the Investments team in preparing/collating presentations/analytics/reports/reviews for clients and prospects.
  • Meet/manage expectations with respect to timeliness of preparing and delivering the above.
  • Ensure that reports prepared do not contravene applicable regulatory guidelines and are accurate.
  • Verify integrity and accuracy of information presented in reports.
  • Assist clients and colleagues to understand and interpret reports.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data consistency, information, analytics, MIS, and presentation of reports and efficiency of producing them.
  • Support process change management, development of templates and SOP and platform automation.

Stakeholder Management and Leadership

  • Pro-active engagement with Investment Advisors, Investment Managers, Investment Specialists, relationship managers and service managers as well as clients.
  • Maintain engagement with Compliance and ROC teams towards ensuring that the reports remain compliant with relevant regulatory guidelines and internal standards and relevant risks are managed.
  • Maintain relationship with Operations towards accurate and timely production of reports.
  • Maintain relationship with Technology teams towards any enhancements/changes in client reporting to be implemented.
  • Building specialisation in maintaining high reporting standards, ensuring accuracy and relevance in financial reporting to meet the expectations of both internal and external stakeholder.

  • Able to work cross-functionally to solve problem and drive decision making.
  • Action-oriented and organised.
  • Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously and prioritise accordingly.
  • Self-motivated, able to work on their own initiative and remain calm under pressure.

Risk and Control Objective

  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work you do.
  • Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.
  • Conduct regular/periodic self-assessment of controls to ensure managed CRM tools are in operating within risk appetite of the Business and Group

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

  • A relevant degree in finance, accounting, business or a related field. Professional certification such as CFA or CA.
  • Proficiency in investment accounting, financial assets reporting and a good understanding of relevant regulations and compliance standards.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills to analyse financial data to prepare various customise reports as per client requirements.
  • High level of accuracy and attentions to detail, ensuring precise and error free reporting.
  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems related to investment accounting and reporting.
  • The role holder will be responsible to understand all the investment products available in the industry and accounting of client’s transactions in systems. Ability to quickly come up the learning curve.

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience in accounting and reporting of various investment product available in the financial services industry like Equity, Debt, Manage Account, AIF, Mutual funds, Held away assets reporting, etc.
  • Experience working in Fund accounting and Bespoke reporting.
  • Familiarity with financial software and tools as well as advanced Excel skill.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • The right candidate will have an excellent command of the English language with strong written and verbal communication skills, and presentation skills (PowerPoint).
