Join us as a "Customer Financial Crime BOC, AVP" at Barclays where you'll

be a part of a world-class to support the MLRO and Accountable Executive for Financial Crime (SMF17 and SMF16) for Barclays UK in the management and oversight of financial crime risk in BUK Financial Crime Compliance through execution of the department's strategic objectives. There will be a focus on both business-as-usual oversight as well as support for regulatory change projects.

This will involve working with business stakeholders, 1LOD and the BUK Compliance teams to oversee the delivery of business strategy from a financial crime prevention perspective, enhance the compliance culture in the business and provide technical guidance, support and tailored feedback on regulatory issues.

The successful candidate will ensure that business changes as well as existing processes, systems and controls comply with the appropriate financial crime compliance regulatory obligations and Barclays’ standards and principles.

To be a successful a "Customer Financial Crime BOC, AVP", you should have

experience with (Mandatory)

· Provide day-to-day financial crime compliance oversight of the BUK Customer, Products and Channels business and BUK Businesses Governance, Risk and Control activities.

· Provide financial crime compliance related guidance and advice on the development of products, services and supporting technologies including an assessment of related regulatory risks.

· Identify, manage and escalate financial crime compliance issues

and risk themes within the business

· Maintain an awareness of the BUK Customer, Products and Channels business strategy to ensure robust oversight is provided and lead for Financial Crime Compliance on projects of strategic importance for the

business.

· Demonstrate ownership of issues and breaches,ensuring they are logged and tracked to conclusion and escalated to senior

management where appropriate

Assist in the successful oversight of the One Compliance Risk Assessment and RCSA for a given coverage area

·  Support regulatory visits and information requests

ensuring all requirements are responded to, logged and actions satisfactorily

met

· Contribute towards relevant external consultations, discussions and policy debates as required, provide input on assigned Policy and Standards as required

· Assist the broader team in driving a positive Compliance culture within the business and progressing the Financial Crime Compliance Strategy

Person Specification

  • Naturally inquisitive and quick to assess information in order to assimilate key risks and issues

  • Able to exercise judgement and work collaboratively to drive good customer outcomes

  • Innovative and a strategic thinker Digitally savvy and awareness of existing and emerging technologies 

  • Understand of the role of Financial Crime Compliance, its activities and knowledge of regulatory requirements, principles, rules and guidance in relation to retail banking 

  • Prior experience in a Governance, Risk and/or Compliance role

  • Working knowledge of Barclays UK, including structure, products and systems

  • Understand management reporting and governance requirements in a regulated financial  services organisation

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

  • Communication skills – ability to communicate complex scenarios simply, clearly and briefly

  • Influencing skills – ability to build relationships, make impactful contributions and effectively influence business strategy

  • Execution skills – ability to proactively set deadlines for the business and monitor progress, escalating if required; ability to proactively set deadlines for compliance actions and deliver them on time

  • Problem solving skills – critical thinking, problem solving, future proofing and risk based decision making 

  • Ability to self-learn, adapt, be relentlessly curious and challenge outside of comfort zone

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level and/or relevant academic qualification (e.g. International Compliance Association AML Diploma or similar)

  • Previous experience working in a Governance, Risk management, Compliance and/or Anti-Money Laundering role

  • Knowledge of Barclaycard structure, products, systems, staff and outsourced facilities

  • Experience and understanding of banking, cards, and/or payments industry

Purpose of the role

To provide data-led expert oversight and check and challenge on business and compliance matters to evidence that the organisation is operating in a compliance with Barclays legal, regulatory and ethical responsibilities. 

Accountabilities

  • Identification and assessment of compliance risks through thorough reviews of business activities, changes, processes, testing and systems to.
  • Identification and investigation of potential market abuse, including but not limited to, Insider Dealing, Unlawful Disclosure, Market Manipulation or Anti-Competitive Conduct.
  • Conduct investigation of compliance risk events or breaches. Oversight and check and challenge of corrective actions and preventative measures to avoid future occurrences.
  • Implementation of compliance policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements and ensuring that the bank’s internal policies are aligned with international standards, including jurisdictional requirements.
  • Collaboration with 1LOD, other relevant Compliance teams and legal, and relevant risk management functions to facilitate a comprehensive approach to compliance and risk management.
  • Identification, investigation and oversight of potential money laundering, terrorist financing or other financial crime.
