In Risk Barclays develops, recommends, and implements controls and cost-effective approaches to minimise Barclay's risks, identifies and analyses potential sources of loss to minimise risk and estimate the potential financial consequences of an occurring loss.

Become part of a Model Risk Governance & Engagement team, where you'll provide first class support to the Group Head of Model Risk Management by guiding them through articulating and governing the key model risks across the firm.  Key skills required for this role include,

  • Prior experience in governance and/or qualitative reporting role

  • Experience of operating within a Risk and/or Control environment

  • Good written and verbal communication skills Good facilitation skills, with ability to support and facilitate discussions with senior stakeholders.

  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to guide multiple deliverables in parallel.

Some other highly valued skills may include,

  • An understanding of Barclays organization structure.

  • Broader Risk or Enterprise Risk knowledge

  • Experience of Model Risk Management frameworks

  • Experience working with quantitative teams or highly technical subject matter experts.

This role is based in our Noida office.

Purpose of the role

To design frameworks, provide governance of model risk, controls, infrastructure and reporting as well as providing oversight for compliance of the Model Owner community with the Model Risk Management framework 

Accountabilities

  • The role holder with co-lead the Governance Reporting arm of the team, with responsibility for leading the enhancement, operation and delivery of the Governance Reporting remit for the Group Head of MRM.

  • Deliver high quality governance reporting for the Group Head of MRM across Board and Entity forums. This is not limited to Group/Entity Board Risk Committees, Risk Theme Forums and Risk Control Subcommittees.

  • Coordinate and deliver effective Model Risk governance committeesincluding the Group Model Risk Committee, Model Risk Forums, Model Risk Horizontal Control Forum and Model Connected Risk Forum.

  • Operation and running of the committees in compliance with Policy and Regulatory expectations.

  • Critical review of reporting inputs/papers and leading/shaping reports from scratch, ensuring quality written content & structuring of papers which are appropriate for the Board and senior management.

  • Leading and influencing enhancements to the governance reporting delivery and committee engagement, shaping and influencing the necessary changes and build out of new governance deliverables.

  • Deliver Model Risk Theme reporting, which feed into various forums and to Enterprise Risk.

  • Oversee compliance with BCBS239 expectations.

  • Providing direction and leadership to the more junior members of the team, overseeing the work of the Reporting AVPs.

  • Manage the delivery of supporting governance structures:

  • Reporting roadmaps, delivery planning and agenda setting across MRM-operated forums and various Group/Entity forums which MRM provide submissions to (over 20 governance bodies).

  • Coordinate and facilitate the Horizon Scanning Forum, which supports discussion on core themes and risks across the Model Risk landscape, and feeds into agenda setting.

  • Manage Governance checklists, ensuring that we maintain compliance with all mandatory requirements.

  • Analytics and negotiation of new/amended governance, to ensure continued compliance with Regulation, Policy and Committee Terms of Reference.

  • Ad-hoc and planned reporting and analytics (e.g. analytics based on data from the Group Model Database to support assessments and trend analysis to committees, SS1/23 analytics)

  • Process documentation and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen the overall governance, reporting and engagement framework.

  • Supporting Audit, Conformance and Regulatory responses.

  • Support the wider Model Risk Governance and MRM team on ad-hoc deliverables, queries and analytics. This may include supporting the Engagement arm of the team, which delivers internal training and governance document refreshes.

Vice President Expectations

  • Experience in a prior governance and/or qualitative reporting role

  • Strong written communication skills, with prior experience in shaping and structuring qualitative communications to Senior Management and/or the Board

  • Strong stakeholder management, with proven ability to collaborate with and challenge stakeholders at all levels of seniority

  • Strong verbal communication and facilitation skills, with ability to lead and facilitate discussions with senior management (e.g. Horizon Scanning Forum)

  • Leadership and Influencing skills with analytical thinking to effectively review, synthesise and interrogate information

  • Highly organised and proactive with an ability to manage multiple deliverables in parallel

  • Excellent attention to detail and comfortable working in a dynamic environment

  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite

  • Experience of operating within a Risk and/or Control environment

  • An understanding of the Barclays organisation structure and knowledge of Broader Risk or Enterprise Risk.

  • Experience of Model Risk Management framework and working with quantitative teams or highly technical subject matter experts

  • Experience of operating within a change management role and prior line management experience

  • An understanding of the Barclays Control Framework
