As the preeminent UK investment bank, one of our objectives is to excel at providing market colour and investment ideas on Global companies driving increased Global market share. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Deep understanding of US & European corporates and global investors

  • Ability to work with research to help sell their product and ensure that the focus is commercial and relevant for our clients

  • Efficiently cover a large number of clients and work with sales trading to ensure they are paying for the service provided

  • Working with ICM to ensure the corporate events are interesting and profitable and that our resources are properly aligned with the clients that are willing and able to pay for them

  • Understanding of and willingness to engage with Reg Change as we implement MiFID II and explain the market structure impact to our broader client base.

Stakeholder Management and Leadership

  • Communicate across the gen sales teams and in both regions to ensure the Asia message is clear, well understood and full available to clients

  • Partner with both Research and ECM

  • Engage in team meetings, with training as offered and with client strategy and business management

Decision-making and Problem Solving

  • Understanding of different Asset Manager investment strategies should be key driver for decisions making

  • Knowledge of wider Equities ecosystem to understand trade offs and optimal outcome when encountering problems

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

  • Deep knowledge of S&P and Stoxx 600 and multi years of experience working with research and corporate broking functions

  • Proven experience of working with equities clients in Asia and the ability to demonstrate a real interest in and knowledge of the European and US stock market

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience gained within a Tier 1 Investment Bank

Purpose of the role

To develop and execute sales strategies to generate new business, maintain and grow relationships with existing clients, and achieve revenue targets. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and maintenance of relationships with clients, understanding their financial needs and objectives.
  • Presentation and pitching of financial products and services to clients, tailored to their requirements.
  • Liaison between clients and internal teams, ensuring smooth execution of client requests.
  • Stay updated on market trends, financial products, and industry regulations.
  • Collaboration with research analysts and other teams to provide clients with insights and market updates.
  • Negotiation of terms and agreements with clients to finalise sales transactions.

Director Expectations

  • To manage a business function, providing significant input to function wide strategic initiatives. Contribute to and influence policy and procedures for the function and plan, manage and consult on multiple complex and critical strategic projects, which may be business wide..
  • They manage the direction of a large team or sub-function, leading other people managers and embedding a performance culture aligned to the values of the business. Or for an individual contributor, they lead organisation wide projects and act as deep technical expert and thought leader, identifying new ways of working and collaborating cross functionally. They will train, guide and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long term profits, organisational risks and strategic decisions..
  • Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions made outside of own function, offering significant input to function wide strategic initiatives.
  • Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
  • Escalates breaches of policies / procedure appropriately.
  • Foster and guide compliance, ensure regulations are observed that relevant processes in place to facilitate adherence.
  • Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays, when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division / Group to achieve the overall business objectives.
  • Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector / functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments / initiatives.
  • Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/ sensitive situations.
  • Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area.
  • Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.
  • Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/ businesses divisions.
  • Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
