Overall Purpose of Role:

The role is to lead the client insights team driving the strategic development, delivery, and management of innovative data led insights for Corporate clients. This includes maintaining existing Client Insights products and services, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and compliance with product governance standards

Client Insights are innovative data products that can be free or paid for that are made available direct to clients, news outlets and other external stakeholders.

The team use advanced analytics on Barclays and external data sets to extract insights on clients products, markets, and competitors.

The team collaborate with Coverage and Sales teams to work closely with clients to enhance client relationships and optimize business strategies

The team sit as part of the Digital, Data and Analytics (DDnA) team within Global Transaction Banking.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Leadership: Leading and mentoring a team of product managers, analysts, and proposition managers, fostering a high-performance and data-driven culture
  • Strategic Direction: Creating and overseeing a vision, strategy and multi-year plan for direct-to-client insights, identifying opportunities to commercialize data products, and staying updated on industry trends and technologies
  • Technology Architecture & Governance: Working with Technology partners to optimise the tech architecture and design that supports client insights
  • Advanced Analytics Enablement: Innovating with advanced analytics, understanding complex analytical deliveries, and partnering with data science teams to build models and algorithms
  • Product Strategy and Vision: Managing existing products, creating new data products, defining a data product roadmap, and overseeing product launches
  • Client & Coverage: Engaging with end-users, marketing products, and building a network of contacts to refer new business opportunities
  • Control & Governance: Managing risks, ensuring compliance with data privacy, and improving controls for all Client Insights products and services

Candidate Profile Expected:

  • Advanced Analytics or Data Management Experience
  • Experience managing a medium size team  (>5 people)
  • Excellent communication skills – ability to lead client facing meetings
  • Product Management Experience
  • Data Science (AI/ML) Experience
  • Knowledge of AWS Cloud Platform , Tooling and Capabilities
  • Mathematics or similar background

Purpose of the role

To implement data quality process and procedures, ensuring that data is reliable and trustworthy, then extract actionable insights from it to help the organisation improve its operation, and optimise resources. 

Accountabilities

  • Investigation and analysis of data issues related to quality, lineage, controls, and authoritative source identification.
  • Execution of data cleansing and transformation tasks to prepare data for analysis.
  • Designing and building data pipelines to automate data movement and processing.
  • Development and application of advanced analytical techniques, including machine learning and AI, to solve complex business problems.
  • Documentation of data quality findings and recommendations for improvement.

Director Expectations

  • To manage a business function, providing significant input to function wide strategic initiatives. Contribute to and influence policy and procedures for the function and plan, manage and consult on multiple complex and critical strategic projects, which may be business wide..
  • They manage the direction of a large team or sub-function, leading other people managers and embedding a performance culture aligned to the values of the business. Or for an individual contributor, they lead organisation wide projects and act as deep technical expert and thought leader, identifying new ways of working and collaborating cross functionally. They will train, guide and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long term profits, organisational risks and strategic decisions..
  • Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions made outside of own function, offering significant input to function wide strategic initiatives.
  • Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
  • Escalates breaches of policies / procedure appropriately.
  • Foster and guide compliance, ensure regulations are observed that relevant processes in place to facilitate adherence.
  • Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays, when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division / Group to achieve the overall business objectives.
  • Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector / functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments / initiatives.
  • Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/ sensitive situations.
  • Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area.
  • Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.
  • Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/ businesses divisions.
  • Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
