Join Relationship Management, to build and maintain relationships with customers, clients, stakeholders, and strategic partners. Your focus will be on driving business growth through effective relationship-building and delivering tailored solutions to meet client needs.

As a Relationship Development Director your role is a pivotal position that supports the growth agenda of Barclays by combining business development with the management of a small number of high value clients in the Mid Corporate (typically £6.5m-£50m turnover businesses) space. Through your business development activities you will then grow your own portfolio in line with the bank’s aspirations supporting clients with Day to Day Banking, Debt, Trade & Working Capital and Foreign Exchange, Barclaycard etc.

Given the above dynamics you will be a face to market in the Kent & Thames Gateway area for Barclays within an established team.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Business Development experience ideally in the finance sector
  • A professional network in the Kent area
  • Experience of the lending journey
  • Interpersonal Skills including Communication, Influence and Collaboration
  • Successful Track Record of Business Development and Acquiring New Clients

Desirable skills include:

  • Accredited in Lending
  • Technical Knowledge of Lending Processes and Systems
  • Industry Drivers
  • Client Portfolio Management experience

This role is based in Maidstone

Purpose of the role
To identify and seize business opportunities, expand the customer base, manage existing and new relationships, drive revenue growth, and establish and nurture profitable partnerships with corporate clients. This role serves as the bridge between the bank's offerings and clients' needs, ensuring mutual benefit and long-term success.
Accountabilities
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify new opportunities, market trends, and customer needs, and develop strategies for business growth.
  • Identify leads through networking, referrals, cold calling, and attending industry events.
  • Develop and execute strategies to acquire new business and expand the customer base, including preparing proposals, presentations, and negotiating contracts.
  • Collaborate with relationship teams, product managers, credit analysts, operations, and other internal stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of banking products and services to clients.
  • Manage client relationships to understand their financial goals, challenges, and risk tolerance, and analyze data to identify trends, insights, and areas for improvement.
  • Research and understand the client's industry trends, regulatory landscape, and competitive environment to inform strategic recommendations.
  • Design customized solutions that address the client's specific needs and objectives, incorporating a range of products and services from the bank's portfolio.
  • Communicate the value proposition of proposed solutions, justify recommendations, and negotiate terms beneficial for both the client and the bank.
