Embark on a transformative journey as Vice President - Identity & Access Management Engineering, where you'll spearhead the evolution of our enterprise-wide IAM strategy and operations. As the organization's authority on identity security, you will lead the design and implementation of cutting-edge identity solutions that enable business growth while maintaining robust security posture. You will work to align IAM initiatives with business objectives, ensuring our ForgeRock platform implementation and identity governance frameworks meet the evolving needs of the organization. You will drive the development of our IAM systems strategy and planning, with a focus on regulatory compliance and risk management. You will focus on creating a seamless identity ecosystem with high levels of automation, making it easy to integrate secure authentication and authorization into application build and release pipelines. This includes working with cloud identity solutions, zero trust architecture, and integrating identity services to provide a highly secure yet frictionless user experience. You will lead a team of IAM professionals with accountability and responsibility for the engineering (strategy, architecture, design, build, documentation, and testing) of our identity infrastructure components. You will work closely with your colleagues in security, infrastructure, and application development to embed identity-centric security models across the enterprise. Additionally, your role requires exceptional stakeholder management, executive leadership, and strategic decision-making to support business growth while effectively managing identity-related security risks. As our foremost IAM expert, you will represent the organization's identity capabilities to external stakeholders and influence the direction of our strategic vendor partnerships.

To be successful as a Vice President - Identity & Access Management Engineering, you should have experience with: 

  • Strategic IAM leadership with proven ability to translate business requirements into enterprise IAM roadmaps.
  • Deep technical knowledge of ForgeRock Identity Platform (Access Management, Directory Services, Identity Management, Identity Governance) including architecture patterns and implementation best practices.
  • Proven experience leading enterprise-wide IAM transformation programs with demonstrated business impact and risk reduction.
  • Strong understanding of identity-related security risks, compliance requirements, and experience implementing controls to address them.
  • Experienced leader, who has managed teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Security, or related field; MBA or Master's degree preferred.
  • ForgeRock platform expertise including complex implementation experience.
  • Enterprise security architecture with focus on identity-centric security models.
  • Executive-level communication and stakeholder management.
  • IAM risk management and compliance expertise.
  • Strong expertise in any IAM tool (e.g., IBM Security Identity Manager, Ping Identity, Microsoft Identity Manager).
  • Experience with IAM protocols (LDAP, SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with IAM administration and configuration, including user provisioning, role management, and access reviews.
  • Proficiency in Java and related frameworks (Spring, Hibernate) with experience building and maintaining secure applications.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Apaas, or GCP) and deploying IAM solutions in the cloud is a plus.
  • Experience with enterprise-level IAM projects in complex, multi-system environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse and resolve issues quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Experience with IBM Security Identity Manager(ISIM) and its components (e.g., ISIM workflows, connectors, reporting).
  • Cloud identity solutions and integration with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Zero Trust Architecture implementation experience.
  • M&A integration experience for IAM systems.
  • Industry thought leadership through speaking engagements or publications.
  • Experience with IAM automation and orchestration technologies.

Purpose of the role

To drive technical excellence and innovation by leading the design and implementation of robust software solutions, providing mentorship to engineering teams, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and contributing to strategic planning to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions aligned with business objectives. 

Accountabilities

  • Provision of guidance and expertise to engineering teams to ensure alignment with best practices and foster a culture of technical excellence.
  • Contribution to strategic planning by aligning technical decisions with business goals, anticipating future technology trends, and providing insights to optimize product roadmaps.
  • Design and implementation of complex, scalable, and maintainable software solutions, considering long-term viability and business objectives.
  • Mentoring and coaching to junior and mid-level engineers to foster professional growth and knowledge sharing, elevating the overall skillset and capabilities of the organization.
  • Collaboration with business partners, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and ensure a cohesive approach to product development.
  • Innovation within the organization by identifying and incorporating new technologies, methodologies, and industry practices into the engineering process.

They will train, guide and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long term profits, organisational risks and strategic decisions..
  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross functional areas of impact and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organisation functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies.
  • Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Adopt and include the outcomes of extensive research in problem solving processes.
  • Seek out, build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in order to accomplish key business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.
