Key Accountabilities

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Driving the optimisation, improvements and execution of the agreed GTSM strategy (inclusive of the platform and tooling adoption plans).
  • Delivering longer term and large-scale solutions by leading full end to end architectural reviews driving improvements relating to GTSM strategy.
  • Collaborate across Group Technology stakeholder executives and cross functional teams to achieve execution against strategic priorities, successfully addressing challenges/problems.
  • Lead, coach and mentor a broad team of technology professionals and stakeholders to ensure fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration and innovation and an uplift in capability.
  • Providing external insights to support with the implementation and driving of strategy.
  • Foster a diverse and inclusive work environment, leveraging the strengths of a diverse team both directly and through a matrix.
  • Focus on thematic problems and have a problem solving mindset to tackle issues head on and challenge stakeholders through relevant and data led discussions.
  • Drive improvements in capability and execution prowess across GTSM, seeking a wide range of opinions and skills to create a world class vision and strategy.

  • Exceptional leadership, building and leading a relevant and high performing team either direct that understands the needs of our businesses and customers, and how to meet these through enhancements to our technology infrastructure
  • Be seen and known as a strategic partner that enables stakeholders to deliver against the plans and act as a trusted advisor to unblock issues, leveraging immediate team and peer groups across Group Technology.

Risk and Control Objective

  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work you do and acting as a leader in this space for your team and the broader Technology organisation.

Person Specification

This opportunity is key to driving strategic changes that will enable GTSM to be consistently excellent for our colleagues, businesses, clients and customers.  This role will be pivotal in ensuring our strategy sets us up for success and meets the aspirations of our evolving stakeholder groups. 

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

  • Deep technical appreciation with strong knowledge and understanding of IT industry environment and business needs, combined with a good understanding of business process, applications and infrastructure architecture.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Understanding of how systems and processes interlock to deliver best outcomes for colleagues, clients and customers.
  • Strong business negotiation skills, influence, conflict resolution and political savvy.
  • Strong stakeholder relationship skills – understanding of stakeholders business needs how these are likely to evolve in the near / medium term
  • Resourceful and confident in handling pressure in critical situations, ensuring at all times enabling progress towards GTSM strategic direction and the needs of the businesses.

­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Overall purpose of role

The primary purpose of this position is to collaborate with relevant stakeholders across Group Technology to own and drive the optimisation and execution of GTSM’s strategy.

This GTSM Strategy Execution & Optimisation role will be responsible for partnering with senior stakeholders, GTSM Business Heads and Infrastructure Service Delivery Leads to develop, simplify and optimise the agreed GTSM strategy, uplifting capability around our platforms, tooling solutions and service improvements.

This is a key role in helping ensure GTSM achieves our efficiency and capacity creation goals shifting the focus to consistently excellent execution and adoption. The role will be pivotal in the simplification strategy and partner heavily across GTSM and the broader Group Technology organisation to focus on the driving of solutions and improvements against thematic problem areas for GTSM. The role will also ensure that our strategic direction continues to be world class by creating the vital feedback loop to the GTSM and group Technology organisation on improvements made and any changes in direction or strategy.
