In Audit, you'll play a crucial role in providing independent, reliable, and insightful assurance to the Board and executive management. Your work will focus on evaluating the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and control over current and evolving risks, adhering to international auditing standards and adapting to the changing business environment.

Join us as key member of the Barclays Internal Audit team in Singapore, where you'll play a pivotal role in providing assurance coverage for Asia Pacific and Middle East regions and ensuring that the bank’s risk and controls are properly managed in line with the firm’s policy and local regulatory requirements. You’ll be an Audit Owner leading an audit team with members across the regions to provide a timely and efficient delivery. You’ll be keeping abreast with the latest developments in the firm and the external environment to assess their impact to the audit strategy. You should be at least a degree holder and hold a professional qualification in Accounting or Audit (e.g. CIA, CPA, ACCA). We are looking for individuals who have at least 10 years of work experience in a financial services industry with prior experience in leading audits over Investment Banking, Transaction Banking and Private Banking businesses. The role also requires in-dept understanding of the relevant regulatory requirements in APAC and Middle East, with practical experience in engaging with regulators in the regions to be a plus. You should also have excellent English oral and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills and able to lead and influence while supporting others to develop.

Purpose of the role

To manage the Internal Audit department and set the strategic direction. Provide support to the bank's senior management team, and to manage Internal Audit risk across the organization.

Accountabilities

  • Management of the Internal Audit department, including oversight of Internal Audit professionals and their performance, implementation of departmental goals and objectives, oversight of department efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Relationship management of Internal Audit stakeholders.
  • Management of Internal Audit risk, including identification of potential Internal Audit risks, development of strategies to mitigate those risks.
  • Management of Internal Audit projects.
  • Control of the Internal Audit function.
  • Compliance with the relevant requirements and standards of the regulatory system.
  • Information disclosure with FCA or PRA notification.

  • OR for an individual contributor, they will be a subject matter expert within own discipline and will guide technical direction. They will lead collaborative, multi-year assignments and guide team members through structured assignments, identify the need for the inclusion of other areas of specialisation to complete assignments. They will train, guide and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long term profits, organisational risks and strategic decisions..
  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross functional areas of impact and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organisation functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies.
  • Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Adopt and include the outcomes of extensive research in problem solving processes.
  • Seek out, build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in order to accomplish key business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.
