Location: Chennai
Operation Technology Services are seeking a dynamic senior Java Lead with experience delivering scalable and innovative solutions in close collaboration with the Business.
Reporting to the offshore head for the US Settlements Business, the candidate will play a pivotal role in the execution of the strategy, identifying opportunities to realise the strategic architecture within the constraints of regulatory milestones. The individual will be required to work closely with colleagues across Operation Technology Services (Trade Processing, Operation Data Store and Data Distribution) to ensure the technical solution leverages common components, standard proven patterns and engineering principles.

What will you be doing?
60% - Technical Leadership
• Liaising with BA’s and Project Managers for clarity of development requirements
• Collaborating with business analysts and senior colleagues in order to determine the functional and technical specifications
• Developing work breakdown structures and detailed estimates, assisting in project planning and related project artefacts
• Highlight risks and opportunities, planning mitigating actions and documenting them in a log
• Liaising closely with global Development manager in managing India resource utilization
• Hands-on involvement with the design of solutions
• Perform reviews of technical specifications, code and artifacts produced by the team
• Oversight of the development team during the implementation of the solution
• Liaising closely with the test teams to ensure that QA processes are relevant and thorough
• Working with the release teams to ensure smooth deliveries
• Reviewing the progress of a project according to its plan, maintaining and reporting status updates to the development manager and stake holders
• Ensure processes and practices are followed, documentation is complete, comprehensive and signed off, and defects are tracked & closed
• Hands on development, organize and provide support during SIT, QA and UAT test phases
• Provide technical expertise on Java 1.8, Spring, AWS, Oracle, SQL
25% - Implementation of Strategy for Settlements Area
• Understand the current state v/s strategic state for Settlements IT area.
• Work closely with US Leads as well as Offshore teams for the implementation for the strategy
• Consolidate similar functionalities across different applications into the strategic platforms and decommission the legacy ones.
• Decommission legacy technologies and migrate to more recent Java and Cloud based platforms.
10% - Line Management (required per circumstances)
• Line managing a team of several developers
• Improving the capability of the team through coaching, mentoring and training.
• Following and improving the software engineering processes
• Conducting appraisal rounds, writing and delivering management reviews. Organising frequent 1:1 meetings and developing personal development plans for team members.
Providing KT (Knowledge Transition) to junior and new members of the team
5% - Release and Tier 3 Support
• Ensure Release plans and coordinating release walkthroughs with Environment managers and RTB teams
• Acting as an escalation point of contact for support team, investigating and resolving issues found in productions
• Providing on-call support for releases where necessary
• Ensure requests from the RTB support team is promptly responded; Handle technical issues that are out of scope for the support staff.
What we’re looking for:
Basic Qualifications and Skills
• A degree in engineering, computer science or a quantitative discipline e.g. statistics, physics or mathematics preferred
• 15+ years of total work experience in a relevant IT industry, of which 10 years experience as a tech lead
• 10+ years experience of Core java, server-side java using a industry standard framework such as Spring Framework, Spring Events, Spring Integration
• 5+ years experience in database Oracle, SQL Server
• Analytical skills; ability to investigate and resolve issues in a high-pressured environment
• Strong ability to analyze data; attention to detail and good quantitative ability.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a good command over English and ability to explain complex technical and functional topics in simple terms over the phone.
• Positive team player
• A highly-motivated individual; confident, proactive, enthusiastic, willing to learn and use initiative.
• Played the Technical lead role in an investment bank
• Investment Banking Experience, with Settlements domain knowledge is desirable
Skills that will help you in the role:
• The candidate is expected to be a strong technologist with experience of both application and data architectures
• Bachelor's degree (or above) in Computer Science or related discipline
• Experience of working as a developer in a collaborative but disciplined agile delivery environment
• Desirable to have experience of agile delivery in a data centric, regulatory environment
