The
Application Development team in
The Senior Avaloq/AFP Developer will therefore be responsible for the delivery of quality solutions across multiple software development projects. They will be skilled in their technical field with relevant experience of the techniques and tools being used. They will work on all phases of software development within a project as a team member: Working with business areas to obtain and clarify detailed technical requirements; Designing, coding and unit testing software components for new or enhanced IT systems to a high level of quality;Working as a team member, having an understanding of their area of CIO Application Delivery and its processes, thus enabling them to take accountability of their work; Providing technical support to Project Managers and Business Analysts; Developing an in-depth awareness of relevant software design /development tools and processes, with the aim of providing technical assistance to support their assignment area.
Core accountabilities
Software Design, Programming and Unit Testing: Designing programmes/programme modifications from supplied requirements & design specifications using agreed standards and tools, achieving well-engineered results which follow the agreed implementation level software architectures. Creating and amending programmes in accordance with the design following relevant code management procedures and applying agreed coding standards. Planning, designing and conducting tests of programs, correcting errors and re-testing to deliver an error-free product. Documenting all work in accordance with agreed standards and with re-use in mind. Conducting reviews of supplied specifications with others as necessary. Taking part in reviews of own work and lead reviews of colleagues’ work.
Capability Growth: Building understanding of software delivery process and of technology developments relevant to own team/programme. Building and maintaining a good understanding of the various stages of software development, enhancements, and support. Acting as a point of reference for both internal and external technical queries. Providing guidance and assistance to colleagues in any aspect of programme design, creation testing and documentation.
Organisational Improvement: Assisting with the implementation of operational objectives for relevant team/programme. Taking part in evaluations and reviews of programming methods, tools and standards.

The clients/ users are located in more than nine different countries supporting the following business areas: Barclays Wealth Intermediaries and Corporate Business; International Affluent; International Private Bank.
Role requirements
Development/Configuration: Has a strong working knowledge in one or more of the main development phases. Familiar with the syntax, structure, features and facilities of at least one of the required languages. Can read and interpret an application system design and program specifications. Can develop structured programming specifications. Has participated in the development of an application using a structured life-cycle methodology. Can describe major phases, activities, checkpoints and deliverables. Experienced with the use of a specific application and development toolkits. Has assisting in creating, using and validating test data and scripts. Has worked with preparation, administration and validation of tests. Experienced with deployment of new or enhanced applications into production.
IT Architecture: Aware of technical architecture standards and considerations. Can describe basic activities and deliverable associated with functional analysis and application design. Is able to describe some of the risks and benefits of technology integration projects. Aware of major software, hardware or application integration initiatives and plans.
Professional/technical experience
The role holder has an excellent overall knowledge of Avaloq as well as in depth knowledge of several of the functional modules.

Managerial experience
The role holder has a proven track record of successfully working as a development lead with remote development and testing teams. This experience does not involve supervisory responsibility. But it involves coaching junior team members, assigning work items to team members and tracking implementation progresses.
Academic and professional qualifications
It is desirable that the role holder is educated to a degree level or an equivalent professional accreditation.
Language skills
The role holder will have an excellent command of the English language with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively across all as this the primary business language at Barclays. It would be highly advantageous if the candidate was also fluent in French.

The role holder will be a permanent member of Barclays Wealth Technology. The role will be Geneva centric but the individual will be flexible for work outside of office hours.The role holder will be able to contribute positively to the organisational culture by challenging the status quo and introducing new ideas and to be an outstanding role model for the Barclays Wealth Behaviours, and a professional, delivery focused team member.
