Automation Engineer
Glasgow 

As a Barclays Automation Engineer you will be participating in troubleshooting situations and execute Release Management for the non-production environments partnered with a Development Team, facilitating deployments, troubleshooting environment issues. You will be the conduit with the Run the Bank team.

What will you be doing?


• Co-ordinating and supporting self-service deployments to the pre-production environments and facilitate deployments from external teams on multi-platform systems
• Diagnosing and resolution of non-functional defects found during test phases and apply identified continuous improvements to drive efficiencies
• Performing timely upgrades of environments to an agreed schedule
• Identifying and apply automation opportunities to speed up deployments whilst eliminating risks
• You will clearly communicate plans and status to all levels within the organisation and take technical leadership during problem situations
• Preserving and enhance the knowledge base of Release Management activities including version control for all Application and Infrastructure documentation
• Co-ordinating the test and development teams when using CI/CD and test automation

What we’re looking for:


• Exposure to tools like Docker, Jenkins, Nexus, ELK, App Dynamics & Chef
• Previous experience of Release, Deployment and Change Management process (ITIL)
• Understanding of Unix systems with a successful track record of cloud technologies like Teradata & Openshift plus experience of Test Automation with Cucumber/Selenium 
• Experience of automation scripting with Bash, PowerShell or similar is preferred 

Skills that will help you in the role:


• Experience of Application or Technical Support including version control repositories
• Knowledge of Cloud services like AWS and/or Azure
• Experience with code quality tools (SonarQube, Coveralls)
• Web-related protocols HTTP, SSL, DNS and load balancing
