As a Barclays DX Tools Engineer you will be part of a team that provides best-in-class developer tools, reference architectures, and practices to our thousands of developers. The intent of our function is to deliver highly resilient and available central development tools and services to technology teams across Barclays. You will contribute to our effort focus on ensuring these services are well maintained through robust automation. This is a great opportunity for you to help our mission to grow professional pride amongst our practitioners and offer great tooling and process efficiency.
A higher salary could be considered for the right candidate.
Edinburgh can be considered but primary location will still be Glasgow – Flexi working: 3days working from home

What will you be doing?

• You will design and engineer services that are key dependencies of the development process
• You will ensure solutions meet requirements from a number of sources covering functional, security, and operational needs
• Delivering solutions as code and fully automated delivery using Infrastructure-as-Code and DevOps techniques
• Demonstrating best practice in development
• Suggesting new ways forward and coming up with new ideas for how to achieve our aims

What we’re looking for:

• Demonstrable experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation and Chef
• Demonstrable experience with Continuous Integration concepts and systems such as Jenkins - including creating build pipelines
• Demonstrable experience with Linux and Windows operating systems and automation through scripting (Powershell, Bash and Python)
• Demonstrable experience in development practice skills covering: automated testing, continuous integration, Git source control

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Experience with Groovy
• Experience in supporting applications in the live, production environment
• Experience in the build and deploy of Java and .NET applications
• Understanding of development dependency management tooling such as Maven, Gradle, Nuget
