As a Barclays Equities Developer you will be using your Java skills within the Equities development team, primarily working on Atlas Trade, which is Barclays’ strategic Trade Capture and Lifecycle Management platform for the Equity Derivatives business. You will also be responsible for the development and timely delivery of new and/ or existing software and projects working with other software engineers and project managers.

What will you be doing?
- Designing & implementing appropriate technical solutions including code & unit testing of the solution
- Producing documented & tested software for delivery to production
- Understanding and contributing to the system architecture and ensuring that local developments are aligned with the global strategy and the overall roadmap
- Performing sound root cause analysis for all the user queries and providing valid justification to stakeholders
- Using existing IB and finance domain knowledge to validate the accuracy of the technical solution and adherence to requirements
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of processes and systems
- Analysing existing systems/ processes or designing new components and providing alternate solutions and reasoned recommendations of a chosen approach
What we’re looking for:
- Experience in core Java (Generics, Collections, Multi-threading, I/O) and Unix/ Linux including basic shell scripting
- Solid experience in building distributed systems in the financial services sector
- Knowledge and experience of data structures, algorithms and general problem solving
- Some knowledge of equity derivatives products and operations
Skills that will help you in the role:
- Knowledge of and experience with Oracle Coherence
- Experience of server side C# development 3.5, 4.0
- Familiarity with a range of development methodologies, including Agile and Test Driven development
Where will you be working?
Our offices are situated in the center of Hong Kong’s financial district, at 2 Queen’s Road. Cheung Kong Centre is an investment banking hub that offers panoramic views of Victoria Harbour and Kowloon Peninsula. There is a variety of local amenities and you will be just a short walk from shopping malls, health clubs and multiple transport links.
