As a Barclays aPaas Engineer you will have accountability for delivering and supporting a stable, leading edge, application hosting CLOUD platform underpinned by REDHAT’s OPENSHIFT Container Platform. The platform is an enabler for DEVOPS, continuous integration & development, providing containerisation and self-service consumption of Docker images e.g. JBOSS, Apache, NGINX. This is an exciting opportunity to gain exposure to leading edge software technology.

What will you be doing?
• Ensuring stability of the banks OPENSHIFT platforms Globally (UK and US, CAMPUS and DIGITAL, On and off PREMISE (AWS) 
• Providing PROD and DEV infrastructure consultancy to all business units within the Barclays organisation, Barclaycard, Retail, Corporate and Investment banking
• Supporting the DEVOPS teams migrating the banks major services to CLOUD  
• Undertaking L2 and L3 root cause analysis to deliver resolution to one off infrastructure problems and recurring faults
• Designing and engineering of new solutions
• Attending conference calls on high severity incidents
• Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure smooth migration to Cloud 
• You will be operating a follow the sun support model, but there is a requirement to operate as part of an out of hours callout rota including weekends

What we’re looking for:
• Proven experience with OPENSHIFT V3, Docker, Kubernetes and UNIX – REDHAT LINUX
• Ability to support and trouble shoot Java applications
• Essential experience and working knowledge on at least one of the following:- Redhat JBoss, TOMCAT, IBM HTTP Server or Apache HTTP

Skills that will help you in the role:
• Previous experience in AWS, WILY, CHEF, Shell scripting skills (ksh, perl, python), JSON, Ruby, Gluster, NGINX or Go Lang would be beneficial
• Previous experience managing stakeholders is ideal
• Past experience working under pressure with good problem solving skills would be helpful in this role

Where will you be working?
You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations. The campus is set in a 64 acre self-contained site, in a beautiful green environment and it offers unrivalled facilities for work and for play. We have an onsite gym, as well as outdoor tennis, football and cricket areas, as well as onsite restaurant and coffee shops.
