As a Barclays Cloud Solutions Architect, you will be part of the Global Technology Infrastructure Services Public Cloud team, who is responsible for the technology strategy, architecture and engineering for the services that underpin Barclays next-generation public cloud platform. At AVP level you will enable cloud adoption by promoting cloud native designs and solutions that support the journey to cloud.

What will you be doing?
• Working with architecture, engineering and governance stakeholders to develop reference architectures and anti-patterns to guide business application teams
• Publishing migration option guidelines for existing high volume patterns (e.g. SQL, MQ, etc.) and service guidelines for each cloud (AWS) service offered
• Working with flagship cloud adoption initiatives to accelerate their delivery by collaboratively developing re-usable architecture solutions
• Providing advice and guidance to adopters of cloud solutions and assist in pilot/PoCs
• Educating customers on how to build lean and cost aware solutions
• Ensuring that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements and internal Barclays Policy and Standards
• Working with colleagues in Cloud Centre of Excellence to support the creation and update of its architecture artefacts
• Creating and supporting user focused documentation, education sessions and knowledge articles/blogs
What we’re looking for:
• Proven track record of delivering designs and implemented public and hybrid cloud solutions using Azure, VMWare or AWS solutions
• Adept at influencing others even when position is not initially shared by others (e.g. is able to bring evidence to convince others)
• Strong problem solving skills are required; technical and business problems and the removal of blockers
• Understand control risk and governance and be a good communicator, both written and orally
Skills that will help you in the role:
• Building, improving and maintaining relationships with stakeholders is a key part of this role
• Understanding of technology domain of systems and applications associated to cover technologies such as UNIX, Windows, Storage, IBM Mainframe, Tandem, Middleware, Networks, Security, Systems Management
• Identifying opportunities for revenue generation through application of new technologies
• Knowledge of banking products and associated domains
Where will you be working?
You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations. The campus is set in a 64 acre self-contained site, in a beautiful green environment and it offers unrivalled facilities for work and for play. We have an onsite gym, as well as outdoor tennis, football and cricket areas, as well as onsite restaurant and coffee shops.
