Lead Java Engineer

As a Barclays Lead Java Engineer, you will have the opportunity to join an exciting new venture within the Digital Banking sector. As part of the programme, you will be the Lead Engineer working on server side technologies for the Barclays App and responsible for the evaluation and review of emerging system engineering methods, tools and standards.

What will you be doing?
•   Reviewing and understanding component designs to build knowledge and understand how these fit within an end-to-end system design
•   Collaborating and communicating with other developers to build efficient technical solutions
•   Managing software engineering quality standards / benchmarks as well as mentoring and supporting team members
•   Undertaking performance development responsibility for engineering staff, setting objectives then reviewing and assessing performance
•   Leading the evaluation and review of emerging system engineering methods, tools and standards
•   Creating prototypes to explore innovative solutions and features
•   Working with business areas to obtain and clarify detailed technical requirements.
•   Proposing options to meet business area requirements and preparing cost/benefit for the business area to evaluate

What we’re looking for:
•   Recognised as an expert in following: Java, Spring, Microservice Architecure, Opeshift, AWS, Jenkins, Gradle
•   Proven ability of working in an agile team following Scrum methodology, and leading a team
•   Experience working in a secure environment and ability to adhere to security principles
•   Ability to demonstrate good stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills, with solid personal credibility

Skills that will help you in the role:
•   Java certification
•   A working knowledge of the following Spring Boot, Tomcat, MQ, TLS, AppDynamics
•   Financial services experience
