As a Barclays Operational Intelligence Specialist you will work within the Systems and Service Management Engineering team and will use your existing senior engineering skills and experience to work on the build and delivery of strategic Enterprise IT monitoring and event management systems in use across the Barclays group. You will deliver on transformation projects for toolset consolidation and coordinate with applications teams and support teams to improve the monitoring of our IT systems.

What will you be doing?
• Having responsibility for the design, build and delivery of Enterprise monitoring and event management systems
• Using event management systems such as Netcool, UIM, DX Operational Intelligence and DX Application Performance Management
• Delivering on transformation objectives related to toolset consolidation, journey to AIOps and automation
• Coordinating with other infrastructure and application teams to improve monitoring and event management
• Working with support teams to deliver changes into production
• Contributing to the toolsets continuous service improvement and address risks with the service
• Assisting support teams in maintaining a stable service of our production systems
• Raising and managing product issues/bugs with the supplier
What we’re looking for:
• Proven experience in any of the following technologies; IT Event Management tools such as IBM Netcool, Nagios and CA SOI and APM tools such as DX APM/Wily or AppDynamics
• Proven experience in Infrastructure Monitoring tools such as CA UIM/Nimbus, SCOM and HP OV/OMI
• Good Scripting skills (Perl/Shell)
• Good SQL skills (MS SQL & Oracle)
Skills that will help you in the role:
• A good understanding of the UIM/Nimbus infrastructure and IT infrastructure monitoring would be beneficial
• A good understanding and experience of Netcool suite of products such as Omnibus and Impact would be ideal
• Previous experience in migration of large number of servers from one monitoring solution to the other would be helpful
• Experience with SaaS based monitoring systems such as LogicMonitor, Bigpanada, Datadog etc. would be beneficial
Where will you be working?
You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations. The campus is set in a 64 acre self-contained site, in a beautiful green environment and it offers unrivalled facilities for work and for play. We have an onsite gym, as well as outdoor tennis, football and cricket areas, as well as onsite restaurant and coffee shops.
