Global Contract Services, Prime Services and Prime Derivatives Services Negotiator

As a Barclays Global Contract Services, Prime Services and Prime Derivatives Services Negotiator, you will produce, negotiate and execute various capital markets contract documentation. The documentation is supporting the Prime Services and Prime Derivatives Services (PDS) businesses of Barclays with an assigned portfolio of Barclays counterparties. Global Contract Services (GCS) is responsible for the legal review, preparation, negotiation and execution of various types of master agreements.

What will you be doing?
•    Drafting, negotiating and executing capital markets contract documentation with an assigned portfolio of Barclays counterparties using Barclays templates 
•    Ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and documentation risk controls and adhering to associated guidelines and procedures
•    Conducting independent legal analysis and managing relationships with external counsel where necessary and within Barclays requirements on external legal spend 
•    Working closely with senior stakeholders of the firm to establish client trading relationships 
•    Providing advice regarding risk controls and explaining legal issues to senior stakeholders in a succinct and commercial manner in both written and oral form
•    Partnering with relevant internal stakeholders for ad hoc projects (both regulatory driven and otherwise) and successfully managing them to completion
•    Managing the negotiations process by understanding and identifying potential risks and other issues in a timely manner in the process of the negotiation
•    Providing creative and pragmatic solutions to progress negotiations and provide succinct and clear explanations of the legal issues and the rational of decisions reached

What we’re looking for:
•    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of service
•    Excellent experience in financial services 
•    Substantial experience, knowledge and understanding of the suite of prime services agreements, the Financial industry and Legal roles
•    Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Skills that will help you in the role:
•    Expertise in suite of Prime Services and PDS and an ability to pick up legal and commercial concepts quickly for other master agreements not previously handled
•    Communicating clearly and effectively in both written and oral communications and tailoring approach to the audience and the situation
•    Understanding the importance of legal risk management in the context of document negotiation and regulatory developments in prime services and derivatives industry
•    Ability to understand and explain the business, regulatory and legal impact of issues raised and make timely decisions, as applicable

Where will you be working?
You will be working at our Americas Headquarters at 745 Seventh Avenue. This 37-story office tower is located in Times Square in the heart of Manhattan and features a cafeteria, fitness center and state-of-the-art LED signage on the facade of the building.
