User Experience Design Lead

As a Barclays UX Design Lead you will be a senior lead in the Global Design Team driving design projects with a global team of UX/UI designers using the Agile methodology. The two primary focuses are playing a leadership role in the team – being accountable for high quality design and raising the bar on user centric design thinking across the business. And you will lead and inspire a team of UX/UI designers, working as part of various project delivery teams.

What will you be doing?

  • Establish a new design system for external facing applications and products

  • Partner with the Digital Strategy team to drive adoption across the asset classes

  • Responsible for ensuring the delivery of user experience specifications and documents for developers.

  • Work with the business team to understand customer needs and characteristics; business objectives and outcomes to be delivered.
  • Evangelize the UX process to all relevant stakeholders within the organization and achieve higher maturity of UX engagement with the business
  • Own the design methodology/process – ensuring that it continues to meet the needs of the business and continuously improve this.
  • Responsible for setting the UX strategy, direction and pushing the quality of user experience.
  • Contribute to Barclays Design Language - a library of interaction patterns and standards.

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Design discipline such as Graphic, Interaction, Product, Industrial, Digital Design.

  • 7+ years of experience of designing and launching desktop and mobile applications for at least one of the following platforms, web, iOS, Windows or Android

  • 7+ years of related business analysis / process improvement / project management or client/team management experience, ideally using the agile methodology

  • Experience of leading user experience designers.

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Previous experience of leading entire interdisciplinary design team’s desirable, i.e. an ability to lead beyond your domain of expertise.
  • Enterprise mind set – ability to understand the brand, customer / business process and the role this plays in designing effectively at the UX/UI level.
  • Fluent in relevant design tools such as Figma, Axure RP, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator/Photoshop)
  • A deep understanding of the end-to-end design process with a broad spectrum of hands-on skills including user interviews, storyboarding, facilitating workshops, wire framing, and prototyping.

Where will you be working?

You will be working at our Americas Headquarters at 745 Seventh Avenue. This 37-story office tower is located in Times Square in the heart of Manhattan and features a cafeteria, fitness center and state-of-the-art LED signage on the facade of the building.
