As a Barclays Solutions Architect you will run and assure the design delivery of multiple projects, ensuring they achieve their outcomes to plan. You will work with the relevant Programme Managers, Product Owners, Lead Solution Designers, Business Analysts or Technology Partners and will create technology solutions that meet business requirements which is in line with Group IT Strategies and Architectures.

What will you be doing?
• Being responsible for creating and overseeing technology solutions and costs, to meet business requirements, in line with Group IT Strategies and Architectures
• Working with the relevant lead domain specialists, platform architects and CTO, supports the creation of an appropriate IT Strategy for the relevant business area
• Advising on supplier and cost options, and to ensure that the validity of the overall solution is fully represented and considered in any RFI/RFPs process
• Working with the relevant change practitioners, responsible for ensuring that the outcomes delivered by projects are consistent with the original solution specified
• Reviewing project design artefacts (e.g. Stage 1) and the impact of significant change requests
• Supporting the Systems Planning process to ensure interdependencies are understood and that the proposed plan is viable
• Leading on the programme, organising the team, defining tasks, tracking and reporting progress, delivering on time and within budget and achieving the business outcome
• Providing advice and guidance to business stakeholders in shaping the portfolio of technology solutions to be provided to the business
What we’re looking for:
• Extensive experience creating technology solutions meet business need, deliverable within reasonable constraints and correspond to organisational strategic guidance
• Substantial experience of application integration and implementation issues and their architectural implications (e.g. Domain Driven Architecture, scalability, security, etc.)
• Experience of different Infrastructure patterns with direct experience of operational function of core architecture components (Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Load Balancers)
• Experience in different data solutions and data architecture best practice (e.g. SQL/NoSQL technologies, Data Driven Design, ETL platforms, OLAP/OLTP systems, etc.)
Skills that will help you in the role:
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience of IT Security patterns, considerations, best practice (e.g. OWasp)
• Direct experience of Software delivery and deployment patterns (e.g. Continuous Delivery, Continuous Integration, etc.)
• Experience in different data solutions and data architecture best practice (e.g. SQL/NoSQL technologies, Data Driven Design, ETL platforms, OLAP/OLTP systems, etc.)
Where will you be working?
Northampton was the birthplace of Barclaycard in 1966 and we've been based in Pavilion Drive since the building opened in 1997. This state-of-the art energy efficient building holds up to 2,500 staff. The office location is perfect for travel from the midlands and London alike as we are based just off the A45, it is easily accessible by both car and bus routes
