Technical Lead Python Developer
Prague

As a Barclays Technical Lead Python Developer you will be working with the Structured Products Equity Derivatives business. As part of Markets Execution Technology (ME) team, you’ll be primarily focused on Front Office but will support Middle Office, Legal, Compliance and other associated functions too. As a Senior Technologist you will be responsible for more than just your own deliveries, but of the team as well. This requires a growth mindset and the ability to train, mentor junior members.

What will you be doing?
• Playing a significant role in the design and development of the platforms. This will involve 70% of your time will be hands-on development, 15% Level 2 support and 15% mentoring
• Making and justifying technical decisions around the problem domain
• Educating the team and implementing software development methods, tools, and standards (as appropriate to the domain)
• Collaborating with a global team of developers to build and deliver high quality technical solutions
• Building maintainable code for the future

What we’re looking for:
• Exceptional level of experience/ expertise in developing medium to large applications in Python
• Knowledge of Equity Derivatives/ Structured products, especially within electronic markets (FIX, REST, online etc.) arena serving structured retail indirect channels
• Background leading teams/ working in an Agile environment
• Experience of server side development & multi-threaded code, HTTP protocol and web services

Skills that will help you in the role:
• Knowledge of server-side Java
• Experience providing support and resolving production issues
• Advanced trouble-shooting and diagnostics capabilities

Our Prague office is part of the Operations and Technology Division, and as such, we try our best to stay at the top of our technological game.
