Job Title:Enterprise Architect

Location: Pune

Introduction:

The Enterprise Architect role will sit within the Enterprise Architecture function of CTO. They will be accountable for defining group wide technology architecture, vision and capability to satisfy a variety of functional capabilities, as prioritised by Group CTO, in order to provide a world-class customer/client experience, underpinned by a lean cost base, strong controls and a culture of collaboration, innovation and high performance.

What will you be doing?

100% Technology Strategy & Architecture

Technology Strategy:

  • Under the direction of the Enterprise Architect, define the Data strategy, roadmaps and vision for prioritised functional capabilities consistent with wider Barclays Group standards. Use enterprise architecture techniques, focusing on business outcomes, in conjunction with respective CTO, CIO, Business Architects and business stakeholders, to translate strategic business and technological goals.
  • Ensure that Data architecture is resilient, scalable and highly customer and client-centric in both providing innovative and progressive products and services, and in partnering with the Business Units to ensure their client and customer strategies are successfully achieved;
  • Investigate specific technologies, conduct technical briefings and recommend next steps to O&T leadership at all levels and colleagues as appropriate. Research relevant technologies and demonstrate their benefits by developing POCs where necessary.

Architecture Services:

  • Accountable for creation and development of Data Strategy, Data Architecture including Functional and Technical designs, ensuring appropriate architectural governance approvals are obtained.
  • Under the direction of the Lead Enterprise Architect, lead analysis of the current data landscape to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement. Design and support the implementation of resilient, scalable solutions for the domain area.
  • Provide support and guidance throughout the delivery lifecycle to the Change the Bank and Run the Bank teams, including hands on support on investigation and root cause analysis of any major problems, support in detailed design where needed.
  • Ensure necessary processes and controls are designed to comply with group data policies to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide assurance that the technology services system of internal control is operating as designed and effectively manages all Principal and Key Risk types in accordance with Barclays Policies.
  • Partner with Lead Engineers, Architects and broadly colleagues within O&T community to coordinate strategies and technology investment recommendations
  • Maintain and track technical debt as a result of any changes to target state solutions to accommodate project
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant technologies at the core/internals levels in order to act competently in Subject Matter Expert role
  • Articulate and establish best practices and anti-patterns in application of technologies in question

What we’re looking for:

  • Real world Data architecture experience in banking / financial services is essential with significant practical experience of defining and implementing enterprise wide solutions
  • First class, intellect flexibility of thinking and an ability to analyse and distil complex information quickly, presenting to non-Technology colleagues in a clear and succinct manner.
  • Hands on into Data Architecture and logical/physical database modelling.
  • Experience in architecting and delivering commercially proven, end to end solutions achieving complex business objectives, including integration projects/programmes across disparate technologies, application/infrastructure integration is a pre-requisite with focus on highly resilient and available platforms
  • Ability to provide a world-class customer/client experience, underpinned by a lean cost base, strong controls and a culture of collaboration, innovation and high performance.
  • Understanding of key considerations in Secure systems & software design, Resilience and High-Availability patterns for mission-critical applications, including multi-data-centre deployments
  • Exposure to complex, distributed technologies, application servers, Messaging, Data transformation, ETL, Monitoring tools
  • Exposure to solutions using SOA (Service Orientated Architecture) design principles, APIs, Micro-services based architectures
  • Exposure to architecting and implementing Cloud ready solutions, DevOps patterns for complex systems.

Skills that will help you in the Role:

  • Hands on capability to work with Lead Architects and Solution Architects across CIOs & CTOs, Designers and developers in supporting resolution of any critical issues.
  • Influencing and negotiation skills with senior stakeholders
  • Able to influence the project/programme stakeholders, CIOs and business areas and is sought for expert advice and knowledge
  • Maintains a culture in which trust and mutual respect are valued, challenging people and systems that do not support this. Uses influencing strategies and conveys a strong vision to achieve results and obtain buy-in across the organisation.
