As a Barclays Portfolio Developer you will contribute to the system engineering activity and be responsible for changes to multiple applications / products spanning the end-to-end software development lifecycle within the engineering function (Design, Development and Testing). As well as maintain a technical understanding of multiple applications / products, and providing support for technical queries within Payments Portfolio Team.

What will you be doing?
• Work with operational SME’s to gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs stemming from new operational demand or enhancements to existing services.
• Write well designed, defect free, testable, efficient code leveraging best practices and reuse.
• Take ownership ongoing 3rd line application support issues and lead the resolution of client queries/incidents/problems on a case to case basis.
• Stay in tune with emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into operations and technical delivery.
• Contribute strongly to all agile ceremonies (planning / stand-ups / retro etc.) to ensure high velocity is maintained.
• Document all work in accordance with agreed standards, and with re-use in mind.
• React quickly and as necessary to live software errors and service problems to limit downtime and resolve the problem during project handover.
• Share knowledge and provide expert advice regarding programming methods, tools and standards, conduct reviews of own work and contribute to the reviews of colleagues’ work.
What we’re looking for:
• Expert knowledge working in a MS .Net Development Environment, familiar with MS Visual Studio 2019, ASP.Net MVC, C#.Net, Angular JS, and Web API.
• Advanced experience in LINQ (Entity, Dataset, XML), SSIS, Autosys, Web Services, Git (BitBucket), Jira, and database technologies including SQL Server and/or Oracle.
• Understanding the requirements of strong governance in a large financial environment, particularly around Change and Risk Management
• Bachelors’ Degree in Computer Science or a similar study.
Skills that will help you in the role:
• Knowledge of vendor provided accounting solutions (eg Sunguard - iMatch , FiServe, OpenText)
• Financial services payments business domain knowledge
• A general knowledge of current IT development and live systems, FINtech architectures, strategies and computing trends. Including Cloud based technology
• Availability to perform occasional out-of-hours / weekend work
