Control Assurance SOX Lead 
Whippany, New Jersey

As a Barclays Controls Assurance Sox Lead,  you’ll work closely with Finance in assessing, monitoring and reviewing  globally consistent control framework.  This includes overseeing adherence to documented policies and procedures and for developing new initiatives to enhance controls and maximise efficiency globally, carry out periodic assurance activities to comply with any regulatory requirements.

What will you be doing?
•    SOx Design Effectiveness Assessment process -Oversight of the scheduling/conduct of walkthrough meetings with control owners and challenge of the design of existing controls.
•    SOx Operating Effectiveness Testing process - oversight of the selection of appropriate samples and review of testing procedures in line with the Barclays SOx Methodology.
•    Reporting and communication of SOx findings to the management team and control owners.
•    Review of issue remediation documentation.
•    Provide training and guidance on the SOx process to control owners.
•    Provide regular reporting and feedback to the management team and external auditors.
•    Manage regular meetings with global SOx team members and external auditors.

What we’re looking for:
•    Bachelor’s degree
•    Qualified accountant (CPA, CA, MBA or equivalent)
•    Substaintial investment banking and/or financial services experience
•    Auditing/public accounting experience in Big 4 firms

Skills that will help you in the role:
•    Strong understanding of internal controls and governance of a Finance function within an Investment Bank including knowledge of financial accounting and products, control governance and Sox
•    Experience working independently to assess, improve and enhance a process; managing a team to tight deadlines; pragmatic approach to problem solving
•    Execution and delivery-focused, able to drive a process forward effectively and efficiently in a timely manner
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate at all levels
