As a Barclays Data Management Technology (DMT) Support Engineer, you will be managing the data platforms on Big Data technologies (Hadoop, Terradata) to support the various applications within DMT and RFT (Risk, Finance & Treasury). You will be managing day-to-day operations of the data platforms and deliverables to stakeholders, driving on-boarding for application migration to cloud platforms, build a strong team globally and managing technical interactions with vendor(s).

What will you be doing?
• End to end management for data platforms used for mission critical applications part of Data Management Technology and RFT
• Close engagement with development teams, vendors, upstream and downstream systems to ensure onboarding, releases, migrations, platform stability and delivery of reports
• Responsibility to engage closely with internal and external cloud teams and work with all members globally across RFT and functions for application migration to cloud platforms
• Regular engagement with critical business stakeholders across UK and US
• Ensuring critical KPI, SLA and deliverables are met for all the applications on a daily basis
• Driving discussion with BTB and business to close production issues caused by change or process
• Driving automation and continuous process improvement to ensure operational efficiency and cost optimization
• Ensuring all external and internal audit requests are handled and gaps are remediated with the help of BTB, if any
What we’re looking for:
• Significant experience in application management, infrastructure management
• Proven administrator skills managing Hadoop clusters of scale managing peta bytes of data
• Proven experience in working with Linux/Unix operating systems
• Hands on in scripting technologies like Unix Shell, Perl, Python
Skills that will help you in the role:
• Good understanding of various tooling and process of CI/CD
• Experience working on tools like autosys, iDash, App Dynamics,
• Preferred to have certified in Big Data Technologies – Cloudera, AWS
• Familiar with Terradata, ETL tools like informatica, micro-services technology
