Core Java/SQL Developer

Whippany, NJ

As a Barclays Core Java/SQL developer, you will participate in development and delivery of core data fabric for the Risk Finance & Treasury team. You will be involved with all aspects of analysis, design, implementation and deployment of all software related to the core data applications. The role will also be involved in design and development of the strategic MR data platform in its current form and future cloud migration. The role will be part of a global team of developers. It covers all major business areas within the investment bank.

What will you be doing?

Participate in design and implementation of the core data processing platform for Market Risk technology.
Design and implement applications and data flows for accuracy, timeliness, quality and control.
Design and implementation of a massively parallel data processing workflow and rules engine.
Design and Implement effective and performance data service layers in Java.
Effective integration with upstream and downstream processes and systems
Participate and contribute to relevant technical standards

What we’re looking for:

At least a college degree in computer science or related discipline.
Relevant technical and industry experience in capital markets, trading, risk management and finance.
Substantial experience in Design and Development of enterprise level application in Java technology and hands-on experience with core Java technologies.
Development experience using spring framework and proven hands-on experience in IT development with Java programming language.

Skills that will help you in the role:

Experience in data modelling with good SQL skills in at least one enterprise grade RDMBS and Scripting knowledge (shell, Python)
Experience in JMS Messaging using Tibco, Solace, Apache Kafka with JSON.
Experience in Test/Behaviour Driven Development (including test automation and mocking tools) and understanding of Agile methodologies and SDLC phases
UI development experience a plus, leveraging HTML5, CSS3, JQuery, Ajax, JavaScript, Angular JS, React, Responsive Web Design.
