In a role in Product Development & Management, you'll oversee our entire product lifecycle. Your responsibilities include gathering and prioritising product and customer requirements, defining product vision, and ensuring successful delivery and ongoing performance.

Join us as a UX Copywriter, helping create clear, user-focused content that enables customers and colleagues to navigate digital experiences with ease. This role sits within a collaborative design environment, working closely with Product, Design, Research, and Business teams to deliver content that meets user needs while supporting business goals.

As a UX Copywriter, you will shape content across digital journeys, ensuring every interaction is clear, consistent, and accessible. You will turn detailed information into straightforward language, helping users complete tasks efficiently while maintaining Barclays' standards for quality, compliance, and customer experience. This is an opportunity to influence how people experience our products and services at scale, contributing to digital experiences that make banking easier to use, more intuitive, and accessible for a wide range of customers and colleagues.

To be successful as a UX Copywriter, you must have the following essential skills:

  • Experience creating user-focused content and adapting tone and style for different audiences and digital channels.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Careful attention to detail, supported by proofreading, editing, and content quality assurance skills.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Experience working within a regulated or financial services environment, with an understanding of associated risks and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working with structured copy processes, content governance, and documentation standards.
  • Knowledge of WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and digital accessibility requirements, with the ability to apply inclusive content design practices.

You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.

This role will be based in Manchester.

Purpose of the role

To create best in class user experiences that are aligned to customer needs and drive optimal commercial and customer outcomes. Creating products and journeys that meet customers informational, functional and emotional needs.  

Accountabilities

  • Conceptualisation, design and implementation of user-centric digital banking products and experiences, ensuring alignment with customer needs, industry best practices and business objectives. Monitoring impact of design post launch through relevant CX metrics.   .
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams including product managers, developers, business analysts to translate business requirements into compelling user experiences. Efficiently communicate design rationale and advocate for user-centred design principles. Advocate and champion Design Principles within the organisation.   .
  • Development of interactive prototypes and wireframes to visualise design concepts and validate solutions. Iterate designs based on feedback, incorporating changing technical and business requirements and user feedback.   .
  • Evaluation of the technical feasibility, legal compliance, and potential risks associated with the development and launch of the new product. Securing governance oversite and providing design assurance.
  • User research, usability testing and data analysis to gather insights in user behaviour, preferences and pain points. Utilise findings to inform design decisions and enhance the over user experience and translate these into commercial and customer outcomes.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies and design tools within the fintech and banking industry. Proactively identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in product design processes, tools and methodologies.

  • Make evaluative judgements based on the analysis of factual information, paying attention to detail.
  • Resolve problems by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of acquired technical experience and will be guided by precedents.
  • Guide and persuade team members and communicate complex / sensitive information.
  • Act as contact point for stakeholders outside of the immediate function, while building a network of contacts outside team and external to the organisation.
