As a Barclays Delta 1 Middle Officer, you will provide trade support to various trading desks within the Equities business, covering cash equities and equity derivatives.  You will be taking ownership of day-to-day functions and ensuring operational control requirements are met. Our Investment Bank Equities Middle Office team play an integral role in the rapidly growing equities business and are key stakeholders in multiple projects and new business ventures.

What will you be doing?

  • Working with Trading, Trade Capture, Product Control and Market Risk teams on resolving queries from internal or external sources
  • Engaging with Regulatory Control teams and being aware of all relevant regulatory requirements
  • Monitoring services provided by the offshore Control team and communicating with the front office for any escalation from offshore teams
  • Preparing complete and accurate regulatory reports such as SEBI report, Korea Aggregation Unit report and China Qualified Financial Institutional Investor (QFII) report
  • Actively questioning and challenging existing practices or procedures and making improvement suggestions
  • Being part of the project team on all projects and User Acceptance Testing (UTA) sessions
  • Engaging with Internal Audit and Risk & Control on all control processes to ensure they remain relevant and efficient

What we’re looking for:

  • Knowledge in either cash equities and equity derivative products, with knowledge of both being advantageous  
  • A confident communicator who can successfully represent the Middle Office team during both internal and external communications
  • Experience of working with external counterparties, such as brokers and custodian banks, with the ability to develop and drive better relationships
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Previous experience working in an investment bank
  • Knowledge of regulatory reporting such as SEBI report, Korea Aggregation Unit report or China QFII report
  • Proficiency in Excel, with the ability to create robust Macros
  • A strong risk and control mind-set, to support interactions with Risk and Controls teams

Our offices are situated in the center of Hong Kong’s financial district, at 2 Queen’s Road. Cheung Kong Centre is an investment banking hub that offers panoramic views of Victoria Harbour and Kowloon Peninsula. There is a variety of local amenities and you will be just a short walk from shopping malls, health clubs and multiple transport links.
