Explore locationJoin us as a Data Modeler at Barclays where you will spearhead the evolution of our infrastructure and deployment pipelines, driving innovation and operational excellence. You will harness cutting-edge technology to build and manage robust, scalable and secure infrastructure, ensuring seamless delivery of our digital solutions. In this role you should be able to Translate business requirements into logical and physical data models which serve as the basis for data engineers to build the data products. This includes working with Data Product Manager of the Value stream use case / BUK Data Domain to capture the requirements, translating these into data models while considering performance implications. Role will include testing the data models with data engineers and continuously monitoring and optimizing the performance of these data models.
To be successful as a Data Modeler, you should have experience with:
Design and implementation of high-quality data models that optimize data access, storage, and analysis. Experience in ER Studio.
Partner with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and their desired functionality for the data product. Translate these requirements into clear data modelling specifications.
Creation of comprehensive and well-maintained documentation of the data models, including entity relationship diagrams, data dictionaries, and usage guidelines and further be able to obtain sign-off from the DPL, DPA and the Technical Product Lead on the logical and physical data models.
Continuously monitor and optimise the performance of the models and data solutions to ensure efficient data retrieval & processing.
Collaborates with data engineers to test and validate the data models.

Purpose of the role
To design, implement, and maintain conceptual, Logical and Physical data models that meet business data/process and technology requirements, by using designs and data strategies across a wide selection of platforms.
Accountabilities
- Analysis and documentation of business requirements to translate them into data models aligned with organisational goals.
- Development and maintenance of data dictionaries and glossaries to define data elements and their usage.
- Analysis and monitoring of data usage patterns to identify opportunities for data optimisation and improvement, in partnership with the Data Base Administrator.
- Strategic architecture definition and product selection.
- Production of logical designs in relevant subject area (technical, data, operational), showing for example: processes, objects, data flows, inputs, stored data and outputs. Identifying common components.
- Implementation of architectures and Identification, ownership and resolution of design related issues.
- Definition and documentation of data architectures standards, principles and strategies.
