As a Barclays Developer, you will be working with the business to define requirements, writing high quality documentation and work through the entire development lifecycle. It is a fast-paced and constantly changing environment. You will be working with a function, which supports our strategy to strengthen Barclays’ foundations, create capacity and help accelerate growth. This function will bring together our data platforms across Barclays UK, Barclays International and Risk, Finance & Treasury.


What will you be doing?

• Creating strong relationships with the business, technology management (and peers) and vendor representatives
• You will be taking ownership of development issues
• Making decisions, often in face-paced situations while conversing with both technical staff and business representatives clearly
• You will be writing business and integration documents using a Confluence/Wiki based documentation approach aligned with an Agile / sprint-based development methodology
• Participating in software development staff planning as they write functional and design specifications to govern field, message, and user interface level details
• You will be conducting comprehensive unit, integration testing during the development process ahead of QA and UAT
• You will be documenting use-cases for inclusion by Quality Assurance within formal regression test suite and working with user acceptance testing (UAT) staff on user testing


What we’re looking for:

• Bachelor’s Degree in MIS, Computer Science, Engineering or Finance or equivalent years of services
• Working knowledge of Python with exposure to pandas, numpy, dask and bigdata interface experience
• Performance Tuning of Oracle/MySQL/Hive SQL Queries/Spark SQL Statements. Strong fundamentals of any rational database is good
• Microsoft .Net Core with the experience in Web REST APIs, Good to have knowledge on Angular 6+/HTML

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Understanding of a structured development lifecycle, realizing the importance of different levels of testing. Ability to write high quality technical documentation
• Delivery focused, with a strong quality driven ethic, ensuring the best solution is provided on time and comfortable with fast-paced, dynamic working environment with shifting priorities
• Confident, Strong team player, proactive, able to effectively deal with change and identify, react and add value to issues that affect the team as a whole
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, able to develop relationships with other IT teams and the business. Strong problem-solving skills as well as multi-tasking skills
